Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream (or plain Greek yogurt)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning (about 1 oz) or 3 tablespoons homemade ranch mix
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8–10 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 1 1/2 cups cherry tomatoes, seeded and diced small
  • 2 cups finely shredded romaine or iceberg lettuce, well dried
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Sturdy potato chips, pita chips, crostini, or toasted baguette slices
  • Celery sticks, cucumbers, mini peppers

Instructions

Instructions

  • Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until deeply crisp, drain on paper towels, cool completely, and crumble; or bake at 400°F for 15–20 minutes on a lined sheet pan.
  • Dice the cherry tomatoes, then gently squeeze and blot to remove excess moisture; slice the green onions and shred and dry the lettuce well.
  • Beat the softened cream cheese in a medium bowl until smooth, then mix in the sour cream, mayonnaise, ranch seasoning, lemon juice, and black pepper until creamy and spreadable.
  • Spread the creamy base evenly in a 9-inch pie dish or shallow serving platter.
  • Layer the toppings by sprinkling half the cheddar over the base, then add the tomatoes in an even layer, top with crumbled bacon, add green onions, finish with lettuce, and sprinkle the remaining cheddar.
  • Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to let flavors meld if desired, adding the lettuce just before serving if chilling longer.
  • Serve with sturdy chips, crostini, or veggie dippers and scoop straight down to get every layer.

Notes

For best texture, seed and blot tomatoes and ensure lettuce is very dry. Soften cream cheese to avoid lumps and let bacon cool fully to prevent wilting the lettuce. If making ahead, store the creamy base and toppings separately and add lettuce just before serving. Leftovers keep covered in the refrigerator up to 24 hours; blot moisture and refresh with a little fresh lettuce and bacon before serving. Avoid freezing. Double the recipe in a 9x13-inch dish for a crowd. For variations, add hot sauce or jalapeño, swap in everything bagel seasoning, use turkey bacon or pancetta, or make a lighter Greek yogurt base.
