Ingredients

  • 1 cup instant coffee granules
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups dry milk powder
  • 1 cup powdered coffee creamer
  • 3/4 to 1 cup sugar (granulated or powdered), to taste

Instructions

Instructions

  • Sift the cocoa powder, dry milk powder, powdered creamer, sugar, cornstarch, and salt into a large mixing bowl to remove lumps.
  • Whisk in the instant coffee granules and any optional vanilla powder or cinnamon until evenly combined.
  • For a finer texture, pulse the mixture (excluding chocolate chips) in a food processor for 20 to 30 seconds.
  • Stir in the mini chocolate chips if using.
  • Transfer the mix to clean, airtight jars or canisters and label with brewing instructions and date.
  • To brew, add 3 tablespoons of mix to an 8-ounce mug of hot water or milk, using 4 tablespoons for a stronger cup, and whisk or stir to create a foamy top.

Notes

For best flavor, store the mix in airtight containers in a cool, dry place and use within 3 to 4 months; freeze up to 6 months and let come to room temperature before opening. Batch yields roughly 16 to 20 servings depending on how much mix is used per mug and whether chocolate chips are added. Adjust sweetness to taste; powdered sweeteners blend best. Variations: add peppermint powder, use caramel-flavored creamer with a pinch of flaky salt, include cinnamon and a pinch of cayenne for Mexican chocolate, increase instant coffee and use Dutch-process cocoa for a darker profile, use coconut milk powder and dairy-free creamer for dairy-free, or reduce sugar and sweeten per mug. Do not add liquid extracts to the dry mix.
